Saurabh Bose

Saurabh Bose is a creative technologist and educator currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. As a multi-disciplinarian, the primary nature of his work lies in the intersection and interaction of sound, media, technology and culture. Saurabh holds a Master of Science in Information Design and Technology from The Georgia Institute of Technology, where he focused his research on the development of the iTabla, a hybridized digital instrument built to emulate the gestural control of a traditional north Indian hand drum. Saurabh has worked for a variety of media and technology companies, but in 2003 he co-founded UNDO LLC with creative director Layne Braunstein, focusing on motion and interactive media design. Clients included GE, the G4 Channel, Primus Builders, Tekla, Atlanta Gas Light and Ten Music. During that tenure, he was nominated for a Best of Show SXSW Interactive award, was a Flashbang! Featured Artist and received a prestigious AIGA Seed Award. As a computer musician, producer, recording engineer and remixer, Saurabh has released six studio albums under his artist alias Sharaab(a phonetic spelling of his first name). He has licensed music to international labels such as High Chai Recordings (NYC), W.O.A. International (India), Nophi (ATL), Absolut/Universal (US), Shaanti Play (UK), Lola's World (Germany), Indian Electronica (Canada), One World Records (Australia) and Respect Records (Japan). Saurabh has also worked with a host of luminary music artists including Talvin Singh, Ming & FS, Karsh Kale, DJ Spooky, Vishal Vaid, David "Duke Mushroom" Schommer and Lee Richards (Godsmack). Saurabh has composed music for documentary film (Freedom and Beyond, Part & Parcel,Reflexiones Tropicales), theater (DramaTech) and video games (Cellbloc Studios). He has also been featured in magazines and blogs such as Creative Loafing, Hub, Mantram Magazine, Ethnotechno, Sea of Tranquility, Music for Robots and Global Rhythm Magazine (where he was called a "Pro Tools wizard"). Saurabh was featured as a BBC Introducing Artist in 2011, has reached the top 10 in the World charts on CMJ and has been on regular rotation on radio stations such as BBC, KCRW, WRAS and WREK. In addition, he has been a guest speaker for the Audio Engineering Society, presenting at their Game Audio Summit and leading a workshop on drum sampling. Saurabh currently serves as a faculty instructor at The Art Institute of Atlanta, where he develops and teaches courses in the Interactive Media and Audio Production departments.
